Family Sponsorships

In Canada, sponsorship applications are basically divided into two camps.

The first camp has priority processing and is unsurprisingly reserved for those sponsoring a spouse, common-law partner and their dependent children. The classic and straight forward case is the spousal undertaking whereby a Canadian citizen wishes to sponsor his wife or husband to Canada.

If you wish to simply sponsor your Canadian spouse, and if your spouse has no criminal arrest or unlawful status, and if the sponsor is currently living in Canada, we would invite you to consider our Spousal Undertaking Review whereby you do most of the file handling while the practitioner at the firm reviews your packet along the same strict criteria that a Citizenship Immigration Canada officer would; thus assuring the submission is not delayed or denied.

The second camp for a family sponsorship consist of an application other than your spouse and children. This category is a rougher application in light of tight caps, financial threshold requirements, evidence of relationship and so on. Given tight caps, there’s only once chance to submit a file. Any error or omission will likely cause the packet to be returned and the applicant won’t have a chance to refile application until the following year when the cap resets. (And all supporting documentation, such as background and state clearance reports, will have to be recreated as many will have expired.)

Our firm has helped hundreds of couples obtain permanent residency. We can prepare, file and represent your application for a permanent visa under the spousal or common-law class, as well as the general family class.
