Occupational Relief – Professional Artists and Essential Personnel

Most artists are all too familiar with the experience of having the tour bus held-up at the Canadian border for hours due to an inadmissible crew member.

Each year, hundreds of artists and essential personnel such as film crew, choreographers, stage production workers, sound and light crew members, or carpenters are unable to enter Canada because of a prior misdemeanor or felony conviction.

Our firm proudly serves such artists in obtaining a special waiver called a Temporary Resident Permit that will override their inadmissibility for the duration of the scheduled event, show or tour. This includes the preparation of a work permit exemption, compliant letters of invitations, as well as criminality waivers for those who need one.

When professionally prepared, a TRP may be adjudicated within 30 days. If your travel is urgent, a TRP may be granted directly at the land entry or airport; subject to approval by the lead practitioner after a consultation with the artist, his agent, or tour manager.

  • Work Permit-Exempt Packets for Presentation Upon Arrival (if requested)
  • Criminality Waivers – Point-of-Entry Packets
  • Criminality Waivers – Rush Service (24- to 48-hours)
  • Streamlined Rehabilitation (where applicable)
  • Criminal Rehabilitation (“Pardon”)
