Spousal Undertaking Review

The processing of filing a spousal undertaking is relatively straight forward.

Unless you simply do not have the time to prepare this filing (as it is truly time consuming), or unless you have a complication in your particularly situation we believe that anybody can prepare his own application for a spousal sponsorship.

While the vast majority of straight forward spousal undertakings are approved, the majority of them incur significant delays ranging between of 4 to 6 months on the count of a missing document or missing or incomplete form or answer in the submission process.

If timing is important, we offer a thorough review of your paperwork prior to submission to the visa post for a smoother and more streamlined process.

Note that the following complications will not qualify for a standard review assessment and will not be eligible for our review. If you are in any of the situation described below, we invite you to contact our office for a tailor-made review packet. It may otherwise be more effective to hire the firm for full representation of your spousal undertaking.

Complications that will render a spousal undertaking application non-standard:

• The applicant has a criminal charge or record or conviction
• The Canadian sponsor lives outside of Canada
• Recent or arranged marriages
• Common-law partnerships (couple is not legally married)
• The applicant has accumulated unlawful presence in Canada or has an immigration violation in Canada or is otherwise living in his country of residence without lawful status

Deliverables with respect to our Spousal Undertaking Review:

• Review of all government forms for errors or omissions, including corrections as required
• Review of all supporting documentation
• Recommendations for improvement (removal or adding of documents)
• Optional cover letter outlining any point that requires clarification
• Representation before CIC is optional (for client correspondences)
• Three (3) hours of live support for any question or any immigration matter throughout the adjudication of the file

Spousal Undertaking Review:   $500*

* Please note that an hour consultation is required to determine if the spousal undertaking is standard and otherwise eligible for a spousal review. Representation is optional and subject to a supplemental fee.
